Uncle Santa — Stories Meant to Be Shared All Year

Snowmen In Winter

Lisa Dunn lives in the small, close-knit town of Wolf Point, tucked away in the northeast corner of Montana—where snowflakes, stories, and Christmas spirit always seem to linger a little longer. She is married to Mike, the real-life inspiration behind Uncle Santa, whose twinkling eyes and jolly heart have become beloved throughout her children’s book series.

Together, Lisa and Mike raised two children, Jill and Andy, who have made more than a few appearances as characters in the Uncle Santa universe. What began in 2019 as a simple desire to share a sweet tradition quickly grew into a magical world filled with hot chocolate, kindness, laughter, and unforgettable holiday adventures.

Inspired by the joy she sees in children every day through her daycare, Lisa pours that same wonder into every story she writes. And when the time comes for her and Mike to retire, their dream is to take Uncle Santa “on the road”—bringing Christmas cheer to communities everywhere, not just in December, but all year long.

Because in Lisa’s world, the magic of Christmas isn't a season… it’s a way of life.

How It All Began

I’m often asked how the Uncle Santa and the Magic Hot Chocolate children’s book series came to be, and the answer always brings me back to a simple, meaningful moment.

Mike has been Uncle Santa since 2009. Over the years, he’s brought joy, laughter, and Christmas magic to so many children—especially the little ones at our daycare. In 2018, one of our daycare parents said something that truly stuck with me: “The thing about you doing this is that the kids who come here will always love Santa.”

I honestly believe she was right.

Without even thinking, I replied, “This would make a really good children’s book!”

That one conversation stayed with me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I began researching how to write and publish a children’s book. Before I knew it, I was writing our very first Uncle Santa story in January of 2019.

What started as a simple idea has turned into an incredible adventure. Along the way, we’ve met the most amazing people, shared countless smiles, and discovered just how powerful a little Christmas magic can be.

And the journey is just beginning. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Uncle Santa—and all the joy still to come.
